The iconic saxophonist Fred Anderson is once again celebrated at the MCA with an annual tribute by the artists who helped create the legacy of sound at the Velvet Lounge. Featuring Anderson's long-standing bassist Tatsu Aoki, renowned reedists Mwata Bowden and Edward Wilkerson, illustrious drummer Avreeayl Ra, with Ari Brown and special guest Tim O'Dell.

This performance is accompanied by a brand new Fred Anderson Archival Quartet CD release.

Tuesdays on the Terrace: 2021

Enjoy an evening of free music on the MCA's Anne and John Kern Terrace Garden with our annual summer performance series highlighting artists from Chicago's internationally renowned jazz community.

Dine on our terrace and enjoy a buffet, which features a changing menu of themed dishes using fresh, locally grown produce from the SOAR Farmers Market. Reserve a table by calling 312-397-3805. The buffet is $27 per person.

For a more impromptu evening, open seating is available on our terrace or bring a blanket to relax on the lawn. Food may be purchased from our outdoor grill along with cold beverages, wine, and seasonal cocktails from the bar in the sculpture garden.

Sorry, outside food and beverages are not allowed.

In case of rain, the event takes place inside the MCA Café.
